The idea

Home security in India is either a chowkidar or a full CCTV install with wiring, a technician and a monthly contract. There is nothing in the middle: a box a family buys once, sticks to the door frame themselves, and connects to their phone in ten minutes.

Roko is that box. The hardware is proven Tuya-platform equipment, sourced directly and rebranded, so the engineering risk is low and the work is what a PM is for: picking the right kit, making setup effortless in Indian homes, and pricing it so the decision takes one evening, not one committee.

02

Where it stands

01

Hardware evaluation

Panels and sensors from shortlisted suppliers are on my desk, being tested for false alarm rates, battery life and how they survive an Indian summer.

02

Defining the v1 kit

One panel, four sensors, one siren. The discipline is what to leave out: no cameras in v1, because cameras multiply cost, privacy questions and support calls.

03

The unboxing is the product

If a family cannot install it themselves before dinner, the product has failed. The manual is being designed before the logo is.

Early days

Watch this space.

If you know Indian hardware distribution, or you have opinions about door sensors, I would genuinely love to talk.
